Introspection: I was a Childhood Bully

In life, you're either a bully or the bullied. Sometimes, you're both. In elementary school, I was a childhood bully. I never physically fought anyone, but I did gossip A LOT with my friends about the girls that we were jealous of. The girls who were the teacher's pet. The girls who seemed to have it all together without even trying. The boy who picked his nose and ate his boogers when the teacher wasn't looking. The loner who couldn't relate to anyone else, and had no one to play with during recess. The teacher who was too strict.

I was a bully because it was a way I could step on others to make myself and my friends feel better about ourselves. We were arrogant, but we had no reason to be. It's a sick, twisted phenomenon, but the fact that it happens everywhere and everyday is enough to make me think... are there really that many insecure jerks out there? And how did I become one of them?
